Services
It is my hope that my services to you will make the transition to parenthood easier and more enjoyable, easing some of the doubts and fears and replacing them with confidence.
Free Consultation. We begin by meeting for a free initial consultation and compatibility check.
Two more meetings. If you decide to proceed, at our second and third meetings we discuss your hopes and expectations for the birth and prepare a birth plan. We talk about coping strategies, fears, nutrition/health/fitness, functioning as a team during labor, what type of setting you imagine during labor, whether you like touch, how you manage stress and pain, etc. We also discuss past births if this is not your first child.
Discussion with the father. I discuss with the father how he can be supportive and helpful during labor and birth, I will also teach him some of what to expect during the different stages of labor.
Telephone Support. Throughout your pregnancy I offer telephone support. I am on call for you two weeks from your due date until you give birth. As soon as you want me by your side, I’m there as fast as I can be.
During Labor. I am with you from start to finish. I use relaxation techniques and other non-medical ways of dealing with labor pains, facilitate communication and serve as your advocate with caregivers (doctors, midwives, and nurses) and overall, ensure your maximum comfort.
After Labor. I stay after the birth and make sure breastfeeding is going well and you are comfortable.
Visit at Home. After the baby is born, I visit with you and your family one or two more times to discuss your birth experience. We also discuss infant care, breast feeding, postpartum mood disorders, and anything else you need.
Postpartum Telephone Support. I will also be available via telephone for you if you have any questions regarding yourself or your baby during the postpartum time.
